Recital of Current Repertoire by Charles Truitt
Charles Truitt delights all with this intimate recital of his current repertoire. Past programs have consisted of
a wide variety of works, such as music by Bach, Renaissance lute
music, Spanish and Latin American music, music of the Classical
and Romantic eras, and various works representative of trends of
the twentieth century. For pure
enjoyment or for educational and cultural enlightenment, program
displays the passionate heart of classical guitar music.

Target Audience
For schools or community organizations and the
general public.
Covers many topics, including: music, the history of
music, the guitar and it's techniques, the role of
the guitar in Spanish music.
The program may be formally or informally set, depending
upon the hosting organization's preference.
Length
of Program
Generally a 1 hour program, but
can be modified from 40 min. to 1½ hours in length.
(If program is longer than 1 hour, an intermission
should be scheduled.)

Presenter's
Approach:
Mr. Truitt
will
give a professional performance in recital format of classical
guitar music.
Whether playing selections written specifically for the
guitar or selections which have been transcribed for
guitar performance, he skillfully
demonstrates various historical and international musical styles and classical
guitar techniques.
If written programs are not distributed to the audience,
Mr. Truitt will additionally introduce each piece and
detail its significance.
Results:
In addition to enjoying a performance of the
highest quality, participants will:

Gain
knowledge and appreciation of the music written for
or transcribed for the guitar in various historical
and national styles

Hear how
familiar music that has been transcribed from other
media may take on a fresh quality when heard on the
guitar

Appreciate the music by lesser known composers, or
little-known works by familiar composers
Price
Range:
$480
Plus travel expenses for locations outside of a 30 mile
radius.
If the hosting organization wishes to have a concert
programs to hand to audience members, information on each
piece will be provided to you and you may design and print
your own programs. Alternately, for an additional
charge, quality programs can be provided for you.
Logistical
Factors:
Hosting organization must provide the following:

a well lit area measuring 6' x 6'
minimum for Mr. Truitt (the area can be
elevated, but is not a necessity)
-
a straight-backed, armless chair
(preferably not a folding chair)
-
ample room for audience seating
-
a sound system (depending upon group
size and room acoustics)
-
if host does not have a sound system,
an AC outlet will be needed
-
Concert Programs may be provided for
you at an additional charge, or you may print your own
with repertoire information Mr. Truitt would give
you. If programs are
not going to be used, Mr. Truitt will introduce each
selection.
About
the Presenter:
CHARLES TRUITT
began studying guitar in 1965.
He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar
performance from the Hartt School of Music, and a Master
of Arts in musicology from Marywood University.
His teachers have included the world renowned Oscar
Ghiglia and Michael Lorimer (master classes at Hartt),
Richard Provost (Hartt), Eli Kassner (University of
Toronto), and the late Bunyan Webb (Chautauqua).
He has been listed in Who’s
Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in
American Education, Who’s Who in Entertainment, and The
International Who’s Who in Music and Musicians.
He is a member of the Society for Music Theory, the
Music Teachers National Association, the Guitar Foundation
of America, The College Music Society, and the national
music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda.
Mr. Truitt has been a member of the music faculty
of Marywood University since 1980, and has also served on
the faculties of Baptist Bible College, Lycoming College,
and Alfred University.
